Nike Air Huarache

I looked up the word Huarache in a dictionary – no. You’re right; I didn’t; I Googled it then looked at the Wikipedia entry. I’m not a total Luddite! It turns out that Huaraches are Mexican sandals, and have a history going back to before Columbus stumbled onto the Americas. Nike’s Huaraches (see what I did there?) have a history too, but it’s shorter not nearly as interesting as the current range of shoes on offer.

I’ve been looking at the range on traineraddict.com here and there are some stunning shoes! They all share the heel strap feature that gives them their name, looking as they do a bit like futuristic sandals, but the designs head out into the wilds from there, and there’s something for everyone, no matter how conservative . . . or otherwise . . . they might be.

Take the aptly named Nike Air Huarache ‘Love and Hate’ pack in red. This is a real ‘Marmite’ of a shoe as the name implies. It’s a statement – pure and simple. “Here I am, and I’m not going anywhere any time soon” is the message here, and if that fits in with your personal philosophy, then this might well be the shoe for you.

As with all Nike shoes, it’s not all about fashion. Function will always be a huge part of the Nike ethos, so you can expect comfort, support, durability and performance as well as cool – or hot – good looks for your Huaraches. There are shoes in the range that won’t look out of place worn with a suit, and others that will fit right in on a night out, and all of them would be just as much at home in the gym or on the court as in your wardrobe.
